| Biographical Statement | Claudia Reese lives and works in
Austin, Texas, USA. She holds an MFA
from Indiana University and has run her business, Cera-Mix Studios since
1980. She has exhibited nationally
(highlights include the Everson Museum, the Renwick Gallery (Smithsonian),
American Craft Museum, San Antonio Museum, National Museum of Ceramic Art,
National Museum of Women in the Arts, Art Expo: Chicago, Kimbell Art Museum,
Irving Arts Center, Laguna Gloria Art Museum (Austin), Arlington Art Museum,
San Angelo Museum; as well as many private galleries and university galleries)
and internationally (Canada, Paris, Tokyo, Jingdezgen, People’s Republic of
China). She has been included in Who’s
Who in the World and Who’s Who in America since 2001 and has had her work
included in many anthologies (The Best of Pottery I & II, Sculpting in Clay,
A Century of Sculpture in Texas, Contemporary Crafts in the World, Fifty Texas
Artists, and Contemporary American Women Sculptors. She
has taught in universities and conducted numerous visiting
artist workshops and lectures. Her work is included in many private and
museum
collections and she has done numerous commissions for both private and
public
spaces, including the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, Southeast
Community Library, Seay Building, University of Texas, Westbank
Library, and
the Carver Museum, Austin, IBM, Texas State University, and the City of
Austin. She has exhibited in many craft shows including
American Craft Enterprises (the marketing arm of the American Craft
Council),
the Rosen shows, Handmade in the USA at the Javitts Center in New York,
The
Washington Craft Show, The Philadelphia Craft Show and the Evanston
Craft Show, Texas Clay Festival in Greune, TX, and the Armadillo Christmas Bazaar in Austin..
