Learn about Paper Clay (a mixture of paper pulp and clay). Workshop appropriate for beginners to advanced.   The combination allows for building forms larger, stronger and lighter.  When fired in the kiln, the paper burns out and leaves the clay intact.

We will explain the development of paper clay and the techniques to use in construction.  You will see a slide show of contemporary work using paper clay.  You will mix up batches yourselves, construct a sculpture or a wall piece and after it dries, we will fire it for you for later pick up.

2. Ceramic Sculpture

Facilitator: Claudia Reese

Dates: June 23-27
9 am to 12 noon at Cera-Mix Studio        Cost: $250. including materials and firing.
Afternoon open studio hours 1-4pm        Cost: $50. extra per week(for the afternoon addition)

Learn how to make small or large ceramic sculptures, while releasing that inner artist.  I will teach you all the basics for building a sculpture suitable for interior or exterior display.  Make a fountain, a garden nymph; a portrait of your kid…whatever inspires you.  We will look at a lot of contemporary ceramic sculpture and discuss content and intent.  Sculpture needs to dry slowly, so after they are truly dry, they will be fired.
